Reliable metering of amines that eliminates fugitive leaks and reduces risks

Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro® Seal-less Diaphragm Pumps are engineered to optimize the injection of amines in natural-gas sweetening (H2S removal), refinery gas treatment, syngas conditioning, biogas upgrading, and carbon (CO2) capture systems. These processes involve solvents such as MEA, DEA, MDEA, and blended proprietary amines – as well as those in numerous amine-based processing and carbon capture requirements outside traditional oil and gas applications – especially where the pumped liquids are corrosive, toxic, non-lubricating, abrasive, contain solids, are volatile or difficult to contain.

With no packing or mechanical seals, Hydra-Cell Pro seal-less pumps ensure the safe, reliable, cost effective and low maintenance handling of amines, while virtually eliminating the risks of fugitive leaks and exposure to toxic or corrosive emissions. A seal-less process chamber means pumped amines do not contact a shaft seal, packing, crankcase lubricant or bearing, containing and protecting the process integrity of solvents. The Hydra-Cell Pro design enables more accurate metering, high discharge pressures, exceptional resistance to leakage, tolerance of non-lubricating or contaminated liquids, intermittent operation, and reliable performance during changing process conditions including maintaining flow in variable pressures and ability to run dry without damage to the pump.

Hydra-Cell Pro pumps offer significant advantages for amine injection, dosing, transfer, sampling, filtration, and solvent reclaiming, handling challenging liquid types, including hazardous/toxic, solvent-based, and liquids containing solids, along with multiple wetted-material options for unique application requirements.

Acid gas removal

Hydra-Cell Pro® seal-less pumps provides safe, leak-free handling, processing and transfer that reduces costs, downtime and risks

Hydra-Cell Pro® Key Technology Advantages for Amine Pumping

Pump Abrasives and Suspended Solids Tolerance

Handle suspended particulates and impurities up to 800 microns, eliminating the need for fine filtration and ensuring consistent performance with abrasive fluids.

ELIMINATE FUGITIVE GAS LEAKS

With seal-less design and no leak path for VOCs, Hydra-Cell Pro pumps eliminate fugitive emissions vapors and risks. Secondary containment available.

HANDLE A WIDE RANGE OF VISCOUS LIQUIDS

Accurately and reliably pump liquids ranging from non-lubricating, very low viscosity liquefied gases to viscous liquids and slurries up to 20,000 cP.

Run dry with no pump damage risk

Seal-less design and 100% containment of pumped liquid means that, unlike other pumps, Hydra-Cell Pro pumps will operate with closed or blocked suction, loss of prime, empty tank or operational transients.

EXTREMELY LOW PULSE FLOW

Low flow 10-120 gpm at 1500 psig+ capabilities with wide, adjustable and controllable flow rate for a consistent process with no pulsation dampeners needed in most applications.

MEETS OR EXCEEDS API 675

Multi-diaphragm, seal-less design with a range of models, operating flows, and pressures, for high volume transfer and processing.

REPLACE HIGH-MAINTENANCE PUMPS

With no seals, cups, or packing to replace, not only are leaks eliminated, but downtime and annual maintenance costs are significantly reduced.

Cost Savings and Energy Efficiency

With up to 90% efficiency, Hydra-Cell Pro pumps use lower power motors compared to plunger pumps and multi-stage centrifugal pumps, reducing initial costs and energy use.

Materials for Multi-Use

Pump heads, diaphragms, valves, seats, springs, and elastomers can be selected for the specific amine formulation and operating conditions with different flow and pressure requirements.

Seal-less pump solutions for a range of Amine processing challenges

Hydra-Cell Pro’s capabilities are ideal for a wide range processing requirements including accurate metering, dosing, high-pressure transfer, filtration, injection, reclaiming, sampling, recirculation, transfer and handling applications

Wanner Application Briefs

A specialty chemicals manufacturer modernized by replacing old piston pumps with diaphragm metering pumps to handle aggressive amines at pressures up to 1160 psi (80 bar) in an ATEX-rated explosion-risk area. The company chose Hydra-Cell Pro D10/G10 pumps over traditional diaphragm pumps that are bulky and costly to buy and maintain. The Wanner pumps deliver smooth, low-pulse flow with savings in space, energy, purchase price and parts.

A leading oil and gas development company uses Hydra-Cell Pro D04/G04 and D15/G15 pumps to circulate lean amine solution in a gas sweetening process, where the amine is sprayed into an absorber vessel to strip hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from the gas stream before being regenerated by boiling and reused. The Hydra-Cell pumps replaced single-diaphragm metering pumps which suffered frequent diaphragm failures and heavy maintenance under the high-pressure conditions.

A Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro D35/G35 pump has been installed to feeds a lean methyl di-ethanol amine/water solution into the absorption column of a refinery amine unit, which removes hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from sour gas before the sweetened gas goes to the refinery fuel gas system. The amine is then regenerated by heating in a reboiler and recycled, while the extracted acid gases are sent to a recovery unit to be turned into sulfur. The previous pump leaked at its dynamic seals and packing, and failed within 3-4 months, as it could not cope with the non-lubricating, corrosive nature of the amine.

An international energy company had long-running problems with a piston pump in the amine gas sweetening plant at a TÉT-3 natural gas extraction site where leaking dynamic seals and excessive pulsation in the pipework were the main issues. The company replaced it with a Hydra-Cell Pro D35 pump, fitted with a suction stabilizer and a variable speed drive for flow control, to circulate monoethanolamine that strips CO2 from the gas stream. The pump has since run for two years with no maintenance.
