No Seals — No Packing
Environmentally Friendly
The pumped liquid is 100% contained with Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro, eliminating:
- Emission of VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
- Ground contamination around the pump
- Emission of dangerous chemicals
Handle Non-Lubricating, Low-Viscosity Liquids
With no dynamic seals in the pumped liquid, Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro pumps do not rely on the properties of the liquid to:
- Lubricate the pumping action
- Form a seal to maintain pressure
You can expect reliable performance even when pumping very thin, non-lubricating liquids at high pressure.
Run Dry Indefinitely
Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro pumps are 100% contained and do not use the pumped liquid to lubricate seals or packing during the pumping action. This feature enables Hydra-Cell Pro pumps to run dry indefinitely, and survive process or operator errors without damage to the pump.
Improve the Quality of Produced Product
Process liquids can be degraded by exposure to air and moisture. Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro pumps keep the process liquid completely contained, contributing to consistent and predictable quality in the produced product.
Corrosive, Aggressive Liquids
The pumping of aggressive, corrosive liquids in industrial processes is common – such as Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric acids, and more. But even common liquids such as water and deionised water can become very corrosive as the temperature increases – water at 194°F (90°C) becomes a corrosive liquid. The seal-free, packing-free design of Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro design makes it an ideal choice for handling corrosive liquids.
Handle Liquids with < 800 Micron Solids
The presence of suspended, undissolved solids in a pumped liquid is common, even in the most benign processes. From supersaturated liquids used in spray drying, to resins and isocyanate solutions that can form very small, hard crystals when exposed to humidity or air, suspended solids are a challenge for many pump technologies, including the unrealised solids picked up from corroded pipes and tanks. For pumps with dynamic seals or packing, costly damage and increasingly frequent maintenance resulting from suspended solids is common. Yet it’s often the smallest particulate – sub-5 micron solids – that do the most damage to dynamic seals and are very hard and expensive to filter out.
With Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro’s seal-free, packing-free design and patented valve design reliability is ensured even when pumping liquids with suspended solids. Seal flushing is eliminated, saving the additional cost of installation, running costs and downtime.
Reduce Service & Maintenance Costs
A large contributor to the operating cost of a pump in a system is the service and maintenance (unscheduled repair). In pumps with dynamic seals and packing, this can be a significant cost and rise quickly when pumping non-lubricating, corrosive or with liquids containing suspended solids. This process condition has led to many customers switching to a Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro pump from Gear, Progressing Cavity, Plunger, Multistage Centrifugal and Lobe pumps. Hydra-Cell Pro’s no seal, no packing design reduces service and maintenance costs dramatically leading to the lowest total ownership costs.
T & Q Series: No Crank Lubricator Required
The crank case in a Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro T or Q Series pump is immersed in oil and kept completely isolated from the process liquid. This means that no external forced lubrication is needed, saving money on installation and running costs. It also makes the Hydra-Cell Pro environmentally friendly. On the suction stroke the Hydra-Cell Pro pump's plungers are not subject to loading, eliminating the need for crank lubrication, especially with high suction pressures. Less frequent oil changes also save costs and reduce downtime.
